Since the demise of my favourite glossing product Dia Gelee I have struggled to find a glaze that suits me. I’ve obviously looked at Dia Lite, but can’t say it’s a great replacement for Gelee. Matrix and Wella offer products but they are all cream based and what I loved about Gelee was that it was a gel, so it was easy to apply at the backwash after some Balayage, always giving a beautiful glossy shine. I miss that, its not that i’m looking for toner just a product I can run through quickly which has a touch of colour and a ton of shine.
Well just as
I was about to give up on ever having that again I truely discovered the Redken Shades EQ Gloss.I say truely because I had worked with colourists who used it in the States, but I hadn’t needed to pay attention to it then as I had Gelee, more fool me!.
Well i’m in love, so far I have been coutious and have only been using the level nines, but I believe there is more to come.
Shades EQ gloss comes in a 60ml botlle and mixing is 1.2.1 if you only want a hint of colour and more shine you can add crystal clear to it and then 60mls of processing solution. Easy – it just goes in an application bottle and i’ve found the maximum time I have wanted to leave it on is 5 mins, but it can be left for 20. Whats also brilliant about it is that its an alkaline base and so condition is beautiful, full of shine and luminous, just how I like colour to be and its perfect for my glazes.
